Me standing on the CS&T stage at the Boston Museum of Science

That’s me! Standing on the CS&T stage at the Boston Museum of Science on April 25, 2025. I gave on a talk on beginner astrophotography and it was a lot more fun than I anticipated!

This was all part of Space Week, put together by The Space Consortium. The Boston Museum of Science took part and held an array of “Meet a Scientist” talks that week. I was lucky enough to be one of those scientists.

Here is the blurb that they posted about the panel on the MOS.org website:

I loved interacting with everyone there. I took my Seestar S30 as well as a DSLR on my Move-Shoot-Move star tracker to show as examples of beginner gear. Thanks to everyone who stuck around to ask questions after the talk was over.

I hope I get a chance to do some more talks like this in the future. I would absolutely love to be back at the museum! Here are some more pictures from the event:

Highlights from NEAF 2025

By Naztronomy • Posted on 4/18/2025 • Updated on 5/6/2025

This was my first time at NEAF and I had a blast! Saw so many cool gear and met a lot of cool people. This video just shows some highlights.

I know I didn’t spend a lot of time recording at the Tele Vue booth with their new Naglers, I was busy admiring them in person! I ended up buying a 2.5x PowerMate and I’m really looking forward using it next planet season.

I didn’t spend a lot of money at this conference but in hindsight, Maybe I should have bought some other stuff! I’m looking forward to going again next year.

A Rare Solar Eclipse is Happening on Mar 29, 2025. Will you see it?

By Naztronomy • Posted on 3/25/2025

There’s a rare partial eclipse coming to Earth on March 29, 2025 and only about 5% of the total population of Earth will get a chance to see it without traveling.

Only 0.04% of people live in an area with more than 80% obscuration while 1.2% live with 30% or more obscuration. Are you in the path?

The iAFS is a revolutionary Inline Automatic Focuser by iOptron. It comes in two variations, the “2” for 2 inch and a “3” for 3 inch telescopes. I am thankful for iOptron giving me the opportunity to test the iAFS 2 on their iOptron RC8 telescope. The RC8 is a loaner telescope.

Svbony SV550 Review – How Good Is the Budget Triplet?

By Naztronomy • Posted on 2/28/2025 • Updated on 3/26/2025

This hobby is expensive! So we all try to do our best to save as much money as possible. One item that many astrophotographers seek is a Triplet Apochromatic Refractor. This type of telescope uses three lens elements to focus the light precisely enough to remove chromatic aberrations and give you the sharpest stars possible. It’s a bit more complicated than that but this the gist of it.

The Svbony SV550 is an 80mm Apochromatic Triplet giving all other triplets a run for their money. The base telescope is only $660 and with the coupon listed below, you can get an additional $30 off. Watch my video for a more in-depth review on this wonderful telescope.
