Svbony just came out with their own Quadruplet, the SV503, 70mm quad. It’s an f/6.78 refractor BUT it’s marketed as an achromat.

In the above video, I compare it to a fan favorite (and my favorite), the Askar 71F which has a very similar aperture, focal length, and field of view. The Askar 71F is a full apochromatic scope, meaning, no chromatic aberrations. But both scopes are quadruplets, meaning there’s no need to calculate back focus because you’ll get flat stars all the way through.

As you’ll see in the video, I think Svbony could have done a better job with the focuser. BUT for $399, it’s a steal.

I had the opportunity to test the Svbony SV240 Multi-narrowband filter for the last few months. Due to weather, I only had two nights of imaging with it! But I made the best of it. In the video above, you can see my thoughts on it but the gist of it is that it’s a cool filter but I don’t see myself using it every day.

Here is the result of NGC 6960 that you saw in the video. Also known as the Western Veil Nebula and Witch’s Broom Nebula:

I really like that the bright star there is not throwing out a massive halo.

You all know that I like Svbony, mainly because they make affordable astro gear and t he SV605CC is no different.

It’s an astro cam with an IMX533 Sensor, the same 1″ diagonal sensor that we find on the ASI533MC Pro by ZWO but it costs $200 less! $599 vs $799. How does it perform against its rival?

From the thumbnail, you can see that it’s missing the USB hub in the back but that’s pretty much it. The results were great and if I had the opportunity to, I would have bought the 605CC over the 533MC, but unfortunately, it wasn’t yet released when I got my first astrocam.

To test this, I piggybacked my Askar 71F with the ASI533MC Pro on top of the loaner Svbony SV550 Triplet with the SV605CC. This is what it looked like:

Let’s take a look and compare images of M3 and M13 taken with both of these astro cams on the same night.

On the left, we have the ASI533MC Pro and on the right we have the SV605CC. M13 on top and M3 on the bottom. Which do you like more?
